About SJDRA

The San Jose Downtown Residents Association was founded in 1997 by a concerned group downtown residents with the mission of banding together to advocate, develop and sustain downtown liveability.

The SJDRA represents a diverse socio-economic group of residents in the downtown San Jose core and promotes partnerships with the city government and neighborhood businesses. By participating in policy and planning processes, we are able to:

  1. Foster economic vitality

  2. Educate residents about neighborhood issues

  3. Maintain and promote the downtown core as a livable, family-oriented community with a high quality of life.

The SJDRA is non-commercial, non-sectarian, and non-partisan.

The authority, representation, and jurisdiction of this association is derived from the resident membership residing within the following boundaries:

  • Highway 280 (southern boundary) to Ryland Park (northern boundary)

  • Guadalupe Expressway, HWY 87 (western boundary) to 4th St (eastern boundary)
